Forget About Timeshare

Timeshare vacation really attracts individuals and families who want to spend a wonderful vacation. Of course, being at timeshare gets you the chance of experiencing first-class accommodations. Aside from its spacious suites, you can also enjoy its swimming pools, and play around its tennis courts and golf courses. You even can avail of free theater tickets depending on the privileges your unit gives you. You can also trade places with other timeshare owners.

But these benefits are actually being paid. There is no such thing as free lunch in the world especially now that everyone is experiencing global financial crisis. And when you talk about timeshare payments, we are not talking here of a few hundred dollars but thousands of dollars.

From the moment you sit down, flip the pages, and sign a contract, you are then obliged to pay as SOP if you are purchasing something. Aside from that, it is also compulsory for you to pay the maintenance fees and other miscellaneous fees. The fees serve as substitute to maintain the upkeep of your property. The fees shall make sure that your bills will be paid on time. This is very convenient for those living miles away from their timeshare in which they do not have to go there and check every now and then if the unit is still under good conditions. Maintenance fees are paid annually. Say for example, your maintenance fee from the time you purchased it was $250. It will actually go higher and can reach $1000 if the timeshare organization decides to increase it. So, for the next few years, you will be paying $1000. Isn’t that’s a lot of money.

Timeshare can save your hotel expenses every time you decide to go on over-night stays. You can see your savings in 30 years time. This may seem an investment but it actually is not. You are only wasting your money for a unit that is of no value at all. It is pretty difficult to find a buyer to such property since they too realize that it is not important at all.

There are instances wherein you can sell your timeshare. So the problem comes in-- there is certainly no market for timeshare.

This is a noted fact that since 2008, timeshare sales have dropped. Major hotels, Starwood, Marriott, and Wyndham’s timeshare unit sales were significantly affected. Starwood had cut off employees as well as local workers, stopped further construction of timeshare properties, and closed its newly built properties. Wyndham almost did the same thing. Marriott, on the other hand, opted to continue the construction since they believe that the elements would be wasted. Though there has been a slight change of its sales in early 2010, the 10 percent increase was just taken for granted since the loss outweighed the earnings.

If you still chose to be in that timeshare resort of yours because you are still holding on the fact that you can trade your place to other places, might as well forget about it. But it is also a known fact that it would be hard for you to spot that timeshare exchange that you want. For some reasons, it was a hassle for many families to look for an available timeshare place. And so you will end staying at your unit year after year and you will really feel that it isn’t vacation after all-because it’s still the same place all over again.
